Junior Sailing Program 2011
An introductory sailing program for youth ages 8 to 14. This program is designed to teach basic sailing skills and enhance confidence on the water. In addition to learning boat handling skills, young sailors are taught the value of team work, basic weather and tide forecasting, the importance of protecting the marine environment and maritime rules and regulations. The classes will be conducted in a non-competitive atmosphere.
Beginning Sailing – This program is designed for the novice sailor or one who haslimited experience and wishes to brush up on very basic sailing skills.
Intermediate Sailing – This program is designed for sailors who have completed theBeginning Sailing program either this year or last and wish to progress to a more advanced sailing level. Students who have not completed the Beginning Sailing program but who have achieved a comparable skill level through other experiences will be allowed in this program with the approval of the head instructor.
Session Schedule (All Sessions will run from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm) Session 1: Beginning Sailing, June 20 – 24 (SOLD OUT) Session 2: Intermediate Sailing, June 27 – July 1 (SOLD OUT) Session 3: Beginning Sailing, July 11 – 15 (SOLD OUT) Session 4: Intermediate Sailing, July 25 – 29 (Changed to Beginner Class as of 15 April) Session 5: Beginning Sailing, August 1 – 5 (SOLD OUT) Session 6: Intermediate Sailing, August 8 – 12 (SOLD OUT)
Cost: $200 ($175 for family members of SYC members)
