 Al Cummins

Al Cummins, Commodore

Al and his wife Marlene have lived in Williamsburg for 14 years after retiring from Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York. They keep their Sabre 34 at York River Yacht Haven and enjoy cruising the Chesapeake with the Club. Al is active with Jr. Sailing and established the Seadog Saturday Seminar Series this year. He was Rear Commodore after serving as Club Treasurer for 7 years.

Sandy Hopkins

Sandy Hopkins, Vice Commodore

Sandy Hopkins and her husband Phil (Commodore 1987) live in York County and keep their Hunter 33 sailboat at the Club. Sandy was an elementary teacher for 33 years, of which 28 years were spent teaching in York County. She has been a club member since 1981 and has served on the calling committee, hosted dinner meetings, assisted with parties, and chaired the Housekeeping Committee for the past 6 years. Sandy was a Trustee from 2006-2009.

Bill Wilshire, Rear Commodore

Malcolm Burgess

Malcolm Burgess, Treasurer

Malcolm and his wife Merle live in York County and keep their Cape Dory 27 at the Club and 20 ft. Renken at their home. Malcolm spent 45 years as an Aeronautical engineer and pilot. He has been active with the Dock and House and Grounds Committees, served 3 years as a Trustee, and is now the Club Treasurer.

Joan Edmonds

Joan Edmonds, Secretary

Joan and her husband Bill reside in Yorktown and keep their O'Day 27 sailboat at the Club. She is a retired CPA. Joan has been Secretary for the past 3 years, helped Bill in his role as Dock Master, and is active in many social activities at the Club.

Paul Blais, Trustee 2010-2012

Paul and his wife Barbara live in Hayes and keep their Gozzard 36 sailboat at Sawgrass Pointe Marina. Paul is a custom software developer of business systems. Paul has created a data management system for SYC. He produces the SYC Annual Directory and has completed 2 years as a Trustee.

Fran Butterfoss(to be updated)

Fran Butterfoss, Trustee 2010-2012

Fran and her husband Tom live in Yorktown and keep their Meridian 391 at York River Yacht Haven. Fran has a consulting business that focuses on building and sustaining partnerships to prevent disease and promote health. Fran has served as Entertainment Committee Chair and Dinner Meeting Co-Chair and helps with many social events at the club. She has completed 2 years as a Trustee.

Amber Travers

Amber Travers, Trustee 2011-2013

Amber and her husband Paul reside in Yorktown and keep their Cape Dory 28 at the Club. Amber is a special education teacher and early intervention service provider for children with multiple disabilities. She has volunteered and helped in many club events.

Mike Brower

Mike Brower, Trustee 2011-2013

Mike and his wife Carol reside in Seaford and keep their Hunter 36 sailboat at the club.Mike is retired. Mike has been active with the Dock Committee, has served as Safety Officer and helped out at many Club events.

Carl Early

Carl Early, Trustee 2012-2014

Carl lives in Norfolk and keeps his Hereshoff 45 sailboat at Salt Ponds Marina in Hampton. Carl has served as Captain of the Sail Fleet and Race Committee Chair. He has actively enjoyed the club since 2000.

Geoffrey Rogers

Geoffrey Rogers, Trustee 2012-2014

Geoff and Sarah Rogers are recently retired. They live in Newport News and keep their Pearson 40 sailboat at the Club. Geoff is active on the Dock Committee, Long Range Planning and Hurricane Preparedness Committees.

Mike Webb

Mike Webb, past Commodore

Mike and his wife Jeanette live in Yorktown and keep their Freedom 25 sailboat at the Club. Mike is retired but still works at West Marine. He has been active with the Dock Committee, Long Range Planning Committee, Jr. Sailing and has served as Rear Commodore and Vice Commodore.
