Club Cruises

(Click "here" to go to cruise schedule)

Whether you come by cruiser, sailboat or car, welcome to SYC’s summer cruising season. Cruises are the highlight of the year for Club members – a time to get out on the water and relax with friends at wonderful Chesapeake Bay locations. Many start their weekend by attending SYC’s Friday Happy Hour at the Club dock. The next day, boaters set out from their home ports and meet up by mid-afternoon at the chosen marina (marina slips/reservations are sometimes required in advance). Our Sail and Power fleet Captains set each weekend’s schedule, send around a sign-up sheet at dinner meetings, and notify participants of any planned snacks and meals. We usually have one or two Happy Hours where each boat provides BYOB and hors d’oeuvres to share. Sometimes, we have a potluck for dinner or brunch on Sunday – otherwise, its dinner on your boat or at a restaurant. The Fleet Captains organize optional daytime activities like whiffle ball or scavenger hunts. Weekend cruises really help you get to know other SYC members, so we hope to see you there!

SYC Raft-Ups

Besides organized cruises, any member can call an impromptu “raft-up” for any weekend or evening. Just Email an announcement to Nancy Mehegan at nmeheganatcoxdotnet  (nmeheganatcoxdotnet)  . Let boaters know if they are expected to prepare food or drink to share. By late afternoon, boats meet at a raft-up location – on a river in the Mobjack or even at the Yorktown Marina. When Club parties are planned, boaters reserve transient dockage or “raft-up” at our SYC docks.
