Beat the winter BLAHS?  Make a date to come to the Seaford Yacht Club for the Saturday Seadog Speakers Series for stimulating talks designed especially for boaters or anyone interested in the Bay.  Topics will include:

 

Ø  January 14 - Historic roles of watermen on the Chesapeake - David Niebuhr, Executive Director, Watermen’s Museum

Ø  January 28 - Scallop Fisheries – David Rudders, Assistant Research Scientist, VIMS

Ø  February 11 - The Ships at Jamestown - Captain Eric Speth - Research, design and construction of the re-created 17th century ship Godspeed

Ø  February 25 - Cruise Ship Sea Stories – Jacob Polderman, Naval Architect

Ø  March 10 - Virginia Waterways and Ports of Call - Robert Priseler - Guaranteed to get the cruising juices going as the winter winds down!

 DIRECTIONS TO SEAFORD YACHT CLUB

From Newport News

Take Denbigh Blvd (VA 173) North to the intersection of US 17 where Denbigh Blvd becomes Goodwin Neck Road.

Go straight through the intersection of US 17 for some 3.5 miles.

Seaford Yacht Club will be just past Back Creek Park on your right and an oil refinery on your left.  You will come upon the entrance (right hand turn) abruptly so start slowing down as you pass Back Creek Park

 

From Hampton

Take Route 17 North to the intersection of US 17 and Goodwin Neck Road.

Turn right on Goodwin Neck Road.  Proceed for some 3.5 miles.

Seaford Yacht Club will be just past Back Creek Park on your right and an oil refinery on your left.  You will come upon the entrance (right hand turn) abruptly so start slowing down as you pass Back Creek Park

 

From Gloucester

.Take Route 17 South to the intersection of US 17 and Goodwin Neck Road.

Turn left on Goodwin Neck Road.  Proceed for some 3.5 miles.

From Williamsburg

Interstate 64 East to Fort Eustis Blvd (Exit 250B) toward Yorktown.

Some 4 miles later Fort Eustis Blvd intersects US 17.  Take US 17 South (right hand turn).

It's about 1.5 miles to Goodwin Neck Road (Virginia 173).  Left on Goodwin Neck Road for about 3.5 miles.
